At the end of August, the Port of Altamira handled over 10.9 million tones, similar digit to the one operated in the same period of 2011.
In Containerized Cargo were handled 3.2 million tones, an increase of 2% over the previous year. The main products are terephthalic acid, PVC, auto parts, steel, cement, among others. In TEUs we reached 393.771.
In Break Bulk, there was a rise of 38% derived from the movement of steel products and project cargo. To date, it has been managed 1.1 million tons.
Talking about Fluids, 3.5 million tones cumulatively were handled, 3% more than in 2011. The main products handled are: liquefied natural gas, paraxylene, styrene, VCM, butadiene. So far this year, we have attended 1,175 vessels.
2.7 million tones have been manage until August of Mineral Bulk. Fluorspar, coke, coal, iron ore, urea are the 5 most representative products of this type of cargo.
Regarding Agribulk, there is an increase compared to the same period last year, with 225,000 tons, this due to the importation of corn.
In cars there have been handled up to date 24, 624 units. The main brands handled were General Motors vehicles, International and Palfinger Truck. Thus the Port of Altamira reaffirms its position as one of the most important ports in the country.
