With the accumulated movement of 12.1 million Tons, the Port of Altamira has been consolidated as one of the most important Ports of Mexico, the loads showing a higher growth compared to last year are: agricultural bulk, break bulk and containerized cargo.
With a movement of agricultural bulk accumulated to 262.075 tons in September, the Port of Altamira exceeded by 162% as it mobilized in the same period of 2011, it is expected to continue to receive corn shipments in the next few months.
Due to the increase of the steel sector in the area, 1,229,754 Tons of loose bulk were operated, stressed steel rolls were highlighted whose final destination is the automotive industry.
The container management has a constant increase in the period from January to September, more than 441 thousand TEUS (3.6 million Tons) have been operated by containerized cargo, 3% more than in 2011.
The fluid management remains one of the Port’s main loads, in September 3.9 million tons have been mobilized, of which the principal products are natural gas,para xylene, styrene, butadiene, and other basic raw materials for industries area.
As for the boats, we’ve received 1,195, some of them exceed 330 meters in length.
These actions allow us to corroborate the positive position the Port of Altamira has, as a logistics platform for excellence in national and international markets.
