In order to streamline the logistics chain of the automotive industry, the Port of Altamira thanks to its geographical location and its extensive land reserves has become an important part of the automobile export operations.
Such is the case of the Pick-up Ram made by Chrysler, that exported a total of 1139 units that are going to the east coast of the United States, specifically the ports of Jacksonville and Baltimore, who found inAltamira many competitive advantages that allowed them to reduce their costs and transportation times, thus driving the short distance traffic between Mexico and the United States.
These trucks came from the Chrysler plant located in Saltillo, Coahuila by rail and were operated by the company AMPORTS which has a facility of 17 acres within the Port that are unique to the management of vehicles, trucks and tracts and where they offer added value services to shipping companies that handle different operations by Altamira.
The Principal of the Port of Altamira, Engineer Jose Carlos Rodriguez, said that they will be working together with AMPORTS to attract more shipments that allows to consolidate the vehicle export by Altamira.
