Today at the offices of the Port of Altamira, was held a meeting between the Manager of API, Mr. José Carlos Rodríguez, Secretary of Economic Development and Tourism of the State Government, Monica Gonzalez and executives of Keppel, in order to give continuity to the project for the installation of a yard and an area construction and maintenance of offshore platforms in the Port of Altamira.
Keppel is a company from Singapore leader in design, construction and repair of high performance oil platforms that are used in the exploration and exploitation of oil fields located in deep water.
4000 new jobs at the end of every stage will be generated by this project, and the development of specialized jobs. It is also estimated aninitial economic impact of $ 150 million dollars, so that the cost of the shipyard is estimated at 400 million dollars.
Mr. Rodriguez Montemayor said that the project will bring such great economic benefits to Tamaulipas, besides converting the Industrial Port of Altamira in a point of attraction for the oil sector.
