THE PORT OF ALTAMIRA INCREASES IN CONTAINERIZED CARGO

The port of Altamira is distinguished for being a versatile logistics platform prepared for the specialized attention of all types of cargo. Proof of this is the balanced operation that it presents between its different types of cargo, in which it adds a movement of 14 million tons to the month of August.

The type of cargo that represents the greatest tonnage is containerized cargo with an operation of more than 5 million tons, reaching a TEUS movement of 570 thousand 902 where merchandise such as auto parts, wood and resins predominate.

Mineral bulks occupy the second place in terms of the largest movement of tons. In this type of cargo, goods such as petroleum coke, fluorite and ilmenite predominate, adding up to 3.2 million tons as of August.

Regarding loose general cargo, the operating flow totals more than 2.6 million tons operated through our port area. Within this type of cargo we find the finished car business line, which thanks to the infrastructure and personnel of the companies installed in the Port, a total of 210,183 accumulated units were reached as of August.

Within the National Port System, Altamira stands out for its operation in petrochemical fluids, in this January-August period a growth of 4% is reported compared to the previous year, accumulating 2.5 million tons.

Finally, agricultural bulk, a line of business that has seen significant growth in recent years and which has recently added a second terminal for the operation of this cargo, has added 630,953 tons in the month of August, in which the operation stands out. of products such as corn, wheat, rice and distilled grain.

These results have been possible thanks to the efficiency with which the port authorities and terminals have carried out the operation of the vessels, resulting in the attention of 163 vessels in the month of August and a cumulative of 1,273 so far this year. anus.
