By July, the Port of Altamira accumulated a total of 9.4 million tonnes handled.
General Cargo registered 989 thousand tonnes, an increase of 46% compared to the same period of 2011 due to the movement of different steel products as steel coil, sheet and project cargoes.
In Containers the Port moved 2.7 million tonnes, a slight increase over the previous year, this tonnage represents 341,000 TEU’s. The top products handled were terephthalic acid, PVC, auto parts, steel, cement, among others.
The Port handled over 3 million tonnes of Liquid Bulks showing an increase of 3% compared to July 2011, mainly natural gas (LNG) imports.
The main products handled in Mineral Bulk were pet coke, fluorite, mineral coal, urea, among others, accumulating 2.3 million tons.
Imports of white corn from South Africa and the United States, increased the Agribulk to up to 192 thousand tonnes a consequence of the drought that affects Northern Mexico.
23.239 vehicles have been exported though the Port´s Maritime Terminals.
935 vessels with commercial operation have arrived since January.
