Yesterday the CEO of CONAFOR ( National Forestry Commission ) , Mr. Jorge Pérez Rescala visited the Port of Altamira, who along with officials from the API and the Government of the State of Tamaulipas, took a tour to the areas where have made significant mangrove reforestation.
Since 2007 API Altamira has developed the project “Establishment of an artificial wetland and habitat generation for migratory species in the Port of Altamira “, which have been invested in the construction of artificial wetlands around 12 million pesos in the last 7 years.
In conjunction with CONAFOR have been planted over 102,000 plants, mainly mangrove, Casuarina and other species. It is important to mention that CONAFOR has supported this Port, providing 5.7 million pesos.
The National Forestry Commission ( CONAFOR ) is a decentralized public agency whose purpose is to develop, encourage and promote productive activities, conservation and restoration in forestry, as well as participate in the formulation of plans, programs , and implementation of policy of sustainable forest development .
Engineer José Carlos Rodríguez Montemayor, Director General of the IPA said it will continue to promote reforestation and making both mangrove and other species, and other activities for the benefit of the environment.
