The Port Authority of Altamira, received representatives of the Embassy of Estonia to meet the competitive advantages of this port and to analyze the different business options that can be performed. Among the guests there was the Honorable Estonian Ambassador: Marina Kaljurand, the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Estonia: Enrique Torres Lara, the Secretary of Economic Development of the City of Altamira: Mr. Enrique Sánchez, the Regional Delegate of the Ministry of Economic Development and Tourism Tamaulipas: Mr. Victor Landa and the Manager of API Altamira: Mr. José Carlos Rodríguez.
Within the points that were discussed at the meeting were the growth prospects that are estimated for this year and the infrastructure development in the Port. Furthermore, it was explained how blessed is the southern part of Tamaulipas, because from its geographiclocation and its large land bank, allows any type of industrial project to be settled. Even though, thanks to the excellent connectivity that has the Port of Altamira, by sea and land, it is possible to establish trade relations with over 115 ports around the world through 11 shipping lines. It results such an important thing that the visit of the Ambassador was focus on 3 areas: development of new technologies, logistics and connectivity and the last one related to the analysis of the possibility of establishing a direct link between the ports of Altamira and Tallinn in Estonia, which will improve the conditions of international trade with Eastern and northern Europe.
As a result of the meeting, the Engineer Jose Carlos Rodríguez stated that favored by its large core ofproductive chains and services, the Port offers to the customers and users the basic sources to compete globally, facilitating the port and logistics operations of Altamira, being that it is the economic area where approximately 52% of Mexico’s Gross Domestic Product is generated, so that makes it the best and attractive Port for foreign investment.
