INCREASE IN OPERATIONS WITHIN THE PORT OF ALTAMIRA

The Port of Altamira is consolidated as one of the main drivers of development and efficiency in port movement at a national and international level. With modern infrastructure and optimized processes.

Thanks to its role as a key piece, the Port of Altamira has experienced a significant increase in the movement of goods with an operation at the end of August of more than 13.9 million tons and a total of 555,517 TEUS, being a fundamental axis for Mexico’s foreign trade.

The strategic investments made in its facilities, equipment and technology have allowed notable efficiency in port operations, reflecting an increase in loose general cargo by 46% compared to the previous period, moving a total of 3.9 million tons, in which raw materials such as wood, pipe, steel, among others. During 2023, innovative initiatives have been implemented that have boosted the port’s productivity and competitiveness.

This includes optimization in the loading and unloading of merchandise, which has achieved a mobilization of more than 4.2 million tons of containerized cargo. Another of the most important cargoes is petrochemical fluids, closing the month of August with more than 2 million tons operated. Port operations in terms of agricultural bulk have registered an increase of 81% compared to the same period of the previous year, which represents a constant growth in the flow of this type of cargo that passes through this strategic port, thus operating a total of 1.1 million tons at the end of August.

And in terms of mineral bulk, more than 2.5 million tons were mobilized. Automobile operations have experienced an increase of 23% compared to the previous period, highlighting the key position of the Port of Altamira in the automotive sector, moving more than 259,297 units. Regarding the vessels served, the Port of Altamira has received and served a total of 1,333 vessels so far in 2023.

This number represents a significant increase of 5% compared to the previous year, reflecting the confidence of the industry shipping company in the facilities and services of this port. Port and local authorities highlight the positive impact of the Port of Altamira on the regional and national economy.

Its continued growth and commitment to excellence in port operations is expected to continue contributing to the sustainable development of the region and strengthening Mexico’s position in the international context of maritime trade.
