On December 18th, the Port of Altamira received once again the MSC Texas, the biggest containership that has arrived in this Port.
This vessel docked at the multipurpose terminal Altamira Terminal Portuaria (ATP) and operated more than 500 containers for import and export in 16 hours.
MSC Texas has 334 meters length, 42.80 meters width, capacity for 8,140 TEUS (20 feet containers) and a dead weight of more than 100,000 tons. Its next stop will be Houston so later it can go ahead on its route through the North of Europe.
Because of its facilities, specialized equipment the terminals have and dredging investments, the Port of Altamira is considered by the shipping lines as a safety port for the arrival of this kind of vessels, allowing a quick and efficient attention which is converted in competitive advantages for our Port.
