The Port Authority of Altamira, attended executives of Gamesa; a Spanish Corporation, to coordinate port operations for the movement of 50 wind turbines that will be arriving through Altamira. These equipment will be received at the general and oversized cargo specialized terminal; Inmobiliaria Portuaria de Altamira, S.A. de C.V. (IPA Steel Terminal), who have all the experience and equipment to handle these projects. This first shipment arrived the weekend, aboard the ship “HERANGER” and has scheduled 30 hours of operation.
Gamesa is one of the world’s leading technology in the wind industry. The company has presence in the main markets of this sector which are located in Europe, USA, China, India and Brazil. It is also a world leader in the promotion, construction and sale market of wind farms, facilities and development of parks in Europe, Asia, America and Africa.
The Port of Altamira estimates receiving a total of 8vesselswith these wind turbines, which will be used in a park in the center of the country. This renewable energy project will be integrated by 50 turbines of 2 MW each one and is expected to begin operations in the second half of 2014.
In recent years wind energy is a claimed technology which has grown steadily in all countries of the world and nowadays have increased in Mexico, that’s why the Manager of API Altamira; Engineer Jose Carlos Rodriguez, said that thanks to the infrastructure capacity that has Altamira for oversized cargo, and the need to create new sources of alternative energy, the Port provides extensive advantages that would support the growth of the energy in the country.
