Today 3 oversized pieces that arrived in recent days to Terminal Inmobiliaria Portuaria de Altamira were transported successfully, they arrived on the barge called “Gulf Master I” from Morgan City, Louisiana, having as final destination DuPont plant in Altamira.
The pieces called “Tank Z” have an approximately weight of 140 tons each, 14 meters long, 8.5 meters wide and 9 meters high, which will be used in the Expansion Project AL2 Second Production Line at DuPont. It is noteworthy that the investment of the company is approximately $ 500 million, which will increase production at its plant Titanium Dioxide; essential for the manufacture of coatings, dyes, laminates and paper industry, among many other uses.
In addition, this expansion will generate 1700 direct and indirect jobs during the construction phase, getting consolidated as a global leader in the production of titanium dioxide and becoming the most technologically advanced plant globally.
With this kind of operation the Port of Altamira gets strengthened as a guarantee for handling oversized pieces by infrastructure capacity that has Altamira and specialized terminals, allowing to continue attracting new loads that contribute with the development of the port and the southern part of Tamaulipas.
