One of the main purposes of the Port of Altamira is to be positioned as the best option for the industrial area of Monterrey. Therefore the General Direction and sales team had work in order to strengthen trade ties with the steel, railway industry, and with different organizations and associations that allows increasing the movement of goods between the industrial area and the Port.
During the meetings, there were established synergies with COMCE Northeast (Mexican Business Council for Foreign Trade, Investment and Technology), which is a committee that brings together the main importers and exporters in that region of the country. As well as in the rail industry is being managed with FERROMEX the evaluation of the actions that allows to increase the freight traffic by rail and provides services leading to have an added value in the supply chain. It is expected in the short term to sign agreements of collaboration with the Dry Ports established in the North Country.
Besides there were visits to customers in the steel, cement and processing industry to treat logistical topics that let an increase in cargo volumes currently operating at Altamira.
Jose Carlos Rodriguez, Principal of API, stated that the promotional activities will continue in this order toincrease the investment and the attraction of cargos between the metropolitan area of Monterrey and the Port of Altamira.
